protein pizza bagels
pizza bagels were the GOAT growing up. 🍕🥯
so i gave the childhood classic a dietitian-approved glow-up with gluten-free, protein-packed flatbreads, creamy pizza hummus, sautéed veggies, meat sticks, & plenty of melty cheese.
crispy. cheesy. saucy. savory. & basically everything you loved about pizza bagels… just with more protein + veggies. ✨
Ingredients
pizza hummus dip
- 1/2 cup1/2 cup1/2 cup classic hummus (click for recipe)
- 1/2 cup1/2 cup1/2 cup Powdered Hummus Mix - Prest, may use in place of the classic hummus
- 1/2 cup1/2 cup1/2 cup Cottage Cheese, pureed
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Tomato Paste

- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast

- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Classic Monkfruit Sweetener with Allulose (White Sugar Replacement) - Lakanto

- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Amore [Italian] Seasoning - Primal Palate

- 1/2 tsp1/2 tsp1/2 tsp Salt and Pepper
flatbread
- mini protein flatbreads (click for recipe)
- sautéed frozen vegetables (click for recipe), I used peppers, onions, & mushrooms
- Chicken Pizza Mini Meat Sticks - The New Primal, or any meat sticks, proteins you like

- Mozzarella
- Parmesan Cheese

- Tomato Chips - Root Foods, optional side for dipping

Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- first, make my homemade mini protein flatbreads.
- increase oven temperature to 400.
- make a small hole in the center of your flatbread to create a “bagel”.
- make the pizza hummus dip, by adding all ingredients to a bowl & whisk until smooth. add a little water, if needed, to reach desired consistency.
- to build your pizza bagel: add a smear of the pizza hummus → sauteed veggies → meats of choice → cheese.
- bake flatbreads for ~10 minutes, with option to broil for 2-3 minutes.
- garnish with any other pizza toppings & serve extra pizza hummus with your favorite dipping vessel (like root food’s tomato chips).
