Chili
Is there anything more comforting than a big pot of Chili with all the delicious smells of spice wafting through the house? I think not! My recipe has a secret ingredient that you wouldn't expect to see but trust me it adds a depth of flavor that no chili should be without. This chili makes a large batch so you will have some left over to freeze if it lasts that long!
Ingredients
- 2 lb2 lb2 lb Ground Beef
- 1 lb1 lb1 lb Ground Pork
- 2 Tbsp2 Tbsp2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 111 Onion, large, diced
- 222 Sweet Potato, large, diced small
- 28 oz28 oz28 oz Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes
- 8 oz8 oz8 oz Green Chilies, diced
- 6 oz6 oz6 oz Tomato Paste
- 1.5 Tbsp1.5 Tbsp1.5 Tbsp Cocoa Powder, unsweetened
- 1 tsp1 tsp1 tsp dried Oregano
- 3 Tbsp3 Tbsp3 Tbsp Chili Powder
- 1 Tbsp1 Tbsp1 Tbsp Ground Cumin
- 1 tsp1 tsp1 tsp Salt

Process
Note, these instructions are written assuming the standard serving size, since you have modified the number of servings, these steps may need to be modified for best results
- Heat oil in a large stock pot
- Add onions and saute till translucent
- Add beef and pork and cook till no longer pink
- Add sweet potatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, chili peppers and stir to combine
- Add spices and cocoa, stir to combine
- Simmer on low for 60 minutes
- Enjoy!
